About Green Island Co
My name is Sheenagh and I am the founder of Green Island. I’m originally from London but these days I live in Essex with my two gorgeous boys and our Cockapoo Barney.
It was during my Yoga Teacher Training not so long ago, surrounded by an amazing bunch of earth conscious women that I started to look at the daily choices I was making regarding my single use plastic consumption. I began making small changes at home which seemed to have a ripple effect when I told my friends and family. One problem I kept coming across when ordering products for myself was they were arriving in huge amounts of plastic wrap and packaging. I was horrified. I was buying eco friendly products but they were contributing to the problem. And so Green Island was born.
I wanted to create a stylish, high quality, reasonably priced range of products that would help people make the switch to a more plastic-free life. I wanted to package those products in a sustainable way, which means you won’t see any plastic in our packaging when your orders arrive. I also wanted to give back which is why we have partnered with One Tree Planted and will plant a tree for every single order at Green Island.
Finally, I wanted to create a community of like-minded people. Somewhere to share tips and ideas to help inspire others to start making little changes of their own towards living a more plastic-free life.
I still have a long way to go on my plastic-free journey. We are all forever students. One major thing my yoga course taught me is that when people come together with a common passion for something, amazing things can happen!
